Taj

It is representative of the glorious Mughal
age and is a unique gift of the medieval period
to the People of India. It is situated on the
right bank of the river Yamuna. It was built
by the fifth Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan who ruled
from 1628 to 1658 A.D. An estimated 20,000 people

The
great Mughal Emperor Akbar commissioned the
construction of the Agra Fort in 1565
A.D., although additions were made till the
time of his grandson Shahjahan. The forbidding

Musamman or Samman Burj, Jhangir's Palace, Khas

At
about a distance of 4 miles from Agra City is
the Samadhi of Radhasaomi. Agra is also the
seat of the Radhasaomi faith, which was established
here in 1981, by Saomi Maharaj(1818-78) the
founding Guru, and Huzur Maharaj(1829-98), his
chief disiple and successor.
Fatehpur
Sikri, the city of Victory and enduring
monument to the Mughal Emperor Akbar lies 23
miles from Agra in the great plain unreleived
by a small bill. Upto the end of 14th century
it was occupied by the Rajput chiefs. At the
same spot a decisive battle was fought between
Babar and famous warrior, Rana Sanga.
Itmad-ud-daula
is situated on the banks of the river Yamuna.
It was built by Express Nur jahan,, the wife
of the fourth Mughal monarch, ,jahangir, in
the memory of her father Ghias Beg who was a
Persian noble in Jahangir's court. The tomb
looks like a jewel box encased in white marble
and intricate inlaid stonework.
About
five miles far from Agra City on the Mathura
Road lies the village of Sikandra. In 1492 A.D.,
Sikandra Lodi of Lody Dynasty, after occuping
Agra used this place as the capital of his Empire.
He called it Sikandra.
